The Snow has arrived....

Well I have just spent a fantastic weekend away with family and friends on the island of Bute. We enjoyed amazing food, great company and some lovely moments that always will stay with me.

One of those moments was on Sunday morning it was our turn to make breakfast for everyone (which happened to be pancakes for 20 people!!) and as I pulled back the old wooden shutters on our bedroom I looked out and wow it was like looking out on a magical winter wonderland. It was so exciting I felt like a big kid all over again I do love the snow!

As I write this blog entry tonight it is still snowing heavily, on and off it has been snowing since Thursday when the snow started to fall for Stacy and Dan's wedding in Gretna Green which I shot just before I left. Fortunately this fun loving couple were up for getting out there and having a few pics in the snow which I knew would be a part of their day that they wouldn't want to forget!

The light had gone it was early evening but I was SO happy to grab my flash out of my bag to stop the movement of those snowflakes and hey I think its worked!!. I am stlll editing Dan and Stacey's wedding but here is a taste of things to come.. More to come of Dan and Stacey in the next couple of days..

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY.......

Well I haven't been photographing any weddings the last few weekends as December isn't always the busiest month for couples getting married, but I still have been very busy!

I have had a record number of albums to get sent out and so I have been working night and day to get them finished. I also give my clients the choice of different styles of albums which means that I get to make up a varied selection of albums which I enjoy doing. Here are some photos of what I have been busy with....

This was the lovely wedding of Steven and Victoria who were married back in August at the beautiful Dalston Hall. It was a fab wedding to photograph. I sent out their album last week and here is what they said on receiving it:

"The album is absolutely beautiful, I love the front cover! It looks stunning and has taken prime position on the fire place. Once again, many thanks you have been fantastic if anyone is looking for a photographer I will be in touch!".

Some more album designs each couple is different and unique and so are the albums we create.....

This was the fab wedding of Derek and Jenny back in July. We had so much fun at this wedding, here is what they had to say when their finished album arrived at their house a few weeks ago.

"The album arrived today and it is just fab-u-lous!! Derek brought it to work for me to see around midday, we are sooooo pleased with it! Everyone at work saw it and they all said how amazing it was and more comments that it's the best album they've seen!! We are biased but we have to agree ;o)

You have done us proud and certainly made our day one that we (nor guests) will ever forget. We have been so lucky with our wedding from start to finish. The moment I saw your website I hoped you'd be free for our wedding, we got everything we wanted and more.

Thank you for all your hard work and indulging me in the changes with the album. Please also thank Jesse for us, he captured some amazing piccies too, we had such a great day with you both. I wish we lived closer so we could recommend you to anyone and everyone ;o)

We can't wait to show the album to all our family and friends and no doubt we'll need a new copy in a year from my wearing it out looking at it ha!!!

We honestly can't thank you enough :o)
All the best
Love
Jenny & Derek x x

JAMES & RACHAEL....Greenhills in November

Just wanted to share some photographs of a lovely wedding that I photographed at Greenhills. James and Rachael will be sunning themselves in Mexico as I'm uploading this and I'm sure they are glad to see some sunshine after the awful weather we are having in Cumbria at the moment!

As with all weddings I started out photographing Rachael at her home, she was so chilled out and I really enjoyed photographing her as she was so natural and friendly. I also took a liking to the fabulous wallpaper in the bedroom which made a great backdrop for some of my photographs!

Some of the details the flowers were stunning by AROMA and the dress looked amazing on Rachael which was designed by Joyce Young.

I like this photograph although we like to have lots of fun at the weddings we attend, this is the part that I love capturing as it shows a couple taking their vows seriously and I love trying to capture a couple's feelings and emotion.

Look at this bridal party what a good looking group! James who is from over the border had to wear a kilt and adding the thistles gave the wedding a scottish theme.

I have to say the weather wasn't great but hey we didn't let that spoil things I still managed to coax them outside and it was well worth it! Their car is a stunning Rolls Royce from the lovely Mr Henderson, Cars of Distinction.

Thanks for letting me capture your special day! Watch their SLIDESHOW.

James & Hannah ..VWs and Pumpkins....

James and Hannah are such a fun loving couple. I think that this was evident in their wedding and all the details that they chose. There were lots of children and laughter at their wedding on October 31 at the Greenhill Hotel. I started out at Hannah's parent's house where Hannah was getting ready with their daughter Isobel, she was a very cute little girl and I managed to capture some pics of her before all the action started..

Hannah looked stunning as she completed the final touches to her look, I loved the dress and those shoes..

This is the moment that Hannah and her father got out of the VW Beetle that brought them to the church in Wigton, Hannah just looked so happy and excited!!

After the ceremony I took these photographs of Hannah and James away from all the guests they looked great together!

I loved this happy moment between them and their daughter..

The bridal party looked stunning in their black evening wear and burnt orange accessories which they chose to compliment their theme...

I really enjoyed myself at your wedding, you and your families were great fun and I hope this is reflected in the photographs!

Ray & Anna ..Beautiful autumn day at Raughtonhead & Rheghed

Last Saturday I had great fun photographing the lovely Ray and Anna.
Anna is a teacher and Ray owns his own haulage company and they chose the church in the village of Raughtonhead were Anna is from to get married at. As usual I started out at Anna's parent's home for some pics of the girls, they were so friendly and laid back it made for great photographs.....

The flowers that Anna chose were shades of pinks for the bridesmaids and creams in her bouquet by Vandella who always wow us with their designs...

At the church the singing nearly lifted the roof off the church...

After the ceremony Ray and Anna had a tea party in the marquee for all 200 guests the cakes looked fab..

Meanwhile we disappeared to Ullswater for some photos by the Lake the weather was wild we could hardly get out of the car and so on the way back I found this little spot with a view of Dalemain

At Rheghed the venue looked stunning as Ray and Anna welcomed their guests to join them in continuing in celebrating their special day. As I left the rain was pouring down and I hurried back to my car and put my camera in the boot. But as I looked back over my shoulder and saw this view which was so beautiful I had to get the camera out again just to capture this!

What another fab wedding thanks for letting me share it with you I hope you are having a fabulous time on Cinammon Island in the Maldives! Watch their slideshow.

Carlisle Living

It is always nice as a photographer to see your work published.

This month I am featured in Carlisle Living and just wanted to say thanks to them for this nice little write up!! After 13 years of photographing weddings I think that now people know who I am and this is great as I get I would say 80% of my work through referals but I'll never say no to a little bit of free publicity!!

Getting Behind for all the right reasons.....

As all parents will know this week is half term and so when you run your own business life is a bit of a juggling act!
This week I have been spending time with my children and having fun, but I am still working sometimes into the early hours just to keep on top of things!! I am amazed by how fast my little girls are growing up before my eyes it makes me a little sad as people always tell you they don't stay little long and that is certainly true. Because all posts are more interesting with a picture here are some I took of my girls this afternoon of them playing close to home x..

OUR FRIEND'S RICK & EMMA GET WED!!

It is always lovely to see friends get married. Richard goes back along way he was friends with my brother and in recent months has been working with David, my husband. A couple of months ago he helped build my new office so we know Richard very well!

Infact after seeing Rick always in his building gear I was amazed at how well he scrubbed up on his wedding day...only joking Rick!!

Southport was the town that Emma and Rick got married in as Emma has grown up there and so it was lovely that all their friends met there for their beautiful wedding. We started out at Emma's mum's home, Emma is such a natural and as you can see very pretty!!

Emma's mum gave her away I just love this moment I caught between them it really shows the love they have for each other......

The happy couple...

We took lots of family groups but I just loved this shot that I saw from inside the hotel. It was shot behind glass doors I couldn't get out I was locked in as I was on ground level and Jesse was taking a large group form upstairs, but hey it worked out...

The ground of the venue were stunning and these are a couple of my favourites the leaves were just starting to fall and the light was all dreamy....

Hope you are having a fab time in Dubai and Mauritus!!! Speak to you when you return...Watch their slideshow!

Matthew & Anna ... a lovely couple, another fab wedding!

Last Saturday I ventured down the M6 to Carnforth to photograph Matthew and Anna at a magnificent venue Leighton Hall. The weather was very kind to us and I started at Anna's parent's home for some details photographs which all work very well in the album that they have chosen a storybook album. I would describe their theme as a very classic English country wedding.
Matthew who is a sub mariner in the navy looked great in uniform as did Anna in her beautiful gown.........

Anna and her father arriving in the Landrover at the church!

Matt and Anna have a passion for Land Rovers they drive one, their parent's drive them, and they had a vintage one as their main mode of transport on their special day. They even had a Landrover on their cake! Matt and Anna took part in the Macmillan 4 x 4 challenge in March of this year see their website by clicking here!

This couple are so well suited to each other they share a zest for life and the outdoors and they are both a little cheeky, especially Matt! See photo below!

The bridesmaids throwing confetti...

After the ceremony we went to Leighton Hall and what a great venue this is tucked away in the rolling Lancashire countryside, I had a great time finding all the best places for pictures!

The secret garden was one of my favourites..

Matt and Anna enjoyed a marquee reception and I'm sure they danced the night away enjoying the company of their friends and family who all added to their special day!

Have a great time on your honeymoon in Mauritius! Thanks for letting Jenny and I photograph your very special day! Watch their special day click here!!

John & Andrea.... Surprise Gretna Wedding!

I got ready for my wedding in the usual way camera batteries were charged everything was checked and checked again and although there was only going to be John and Andrea at this wedding I had a knot in my stomach. I think this was because I was nervous for my new clients who I was going to be photographing they were very nervous and I was feeling a bit that way too!

Nobody knew that solicitor John and Andrea who live in Alnwick were getting married, their family knew they were doing something but not this ....running away to Gretna Green! We all had nothing to worry about as we hit it off great and after half an hour they started to relax and I started getting the pictures that I wanted! Once married at the Gretna Hall Blacksmiths in Gretna Green we headed back to the award winning Smiths Hotel.

I know that you thought about the little white chapel in Vegas but changed your mind! Enjoy the slideshow and your surprise destination honeymoon Andrea which I believe turned out to be the Seychelles... FABULOUS!

Steven & Helen ..Lake District Wedding

The sun was shining when Steven and Helen exchanged their vows with 30 of their close family and friends at the beautiful Inn on the Lake.

These are a few shots I took before the ceremony Helen's simple, elegant gown came from the Wedding Warehouse in Carlisle...

Once married the family photographs were taken in the fantastic grounds of the hotel.

It was nice to photograph such a small party and Steven and Helen won't mind me telling you that they are very shy and were a little nervous about relaxing in front of the camera but I think we cracked it!

Have a wonderful time on the Greek island of Kefalonia!

Adrian & Charlotte....Lots of Fun in the Sun!

Wow what a wedding this was! Everything about this wedding was such good fun, the guests, the couple the venue the reception the sun it was awesome. I love my job and this wedding shows me having a great time capturing a great couple on their special day!

I started taking photographs of Charlotte at her parent's home. Charlotte's mum had decorated the conservatory with bunting, and lots of little details that just were soo pretty, and to top it all off there was a delivery of flowers from Adrian - Charlotte's soon to be husband which made her day!! Let's hope he keeps that up!

Charlotte's parents have a beautiful home and they opted for a marquee in one of their fields which looked stunning with a classy black and white theme. The flowers had been provided by Brenda at Gardenalia who always does a fab job!

Meanwhile Adrian and his pals were recreating a TOP GUN pose in a field nearby. Adrian had 11 ushers and he owns a suit hire company EDWARDS in Penrith so this just had to be done....

A horse and trap arrived to take Charlotte and her father to see all their guests..

A moment before entering the church.

After the ceremony we decided to stop at this field with hay bales for some romantic poses, loved this part!!

Back at the reception all the family photographs were taken, I think the bridesmaids thought I had gone mad when I asked them to lie in the grass but this was what I was trying to create..... hope you like!

I hope you have a great honeymoon and enjoy watching your slideshow, your wedding was a highlight of 2009!

Grant & Lindsey - Naturals!

When I first met Grant and Lindsey I knew that I would get great photographs of this couple as they are just so real, what I mean by this is that they are always themselves and don't try to put on any front. For me this is sooo great because a photographer needs their subject to relax in order to get the best photographs. As with all couples who book myself, I like to meet each couple twice before their wedding, normally at the time they book and a couple of months prior to their wedding. So a few weeks ago I met again with Lindsey and Grant we chatted over coffee about their wedding we discussed their day what they wanted out of their photographs and the weather. Weather was certainly not an issue and I hope the Indian summer continues and shines over the rest of my brides this month!

The morning was a little hectic for Lindsey and her 6 bridesmaids and so we opted for me starting the photographs at Stanwix church. This gave me time to photograph the amazing details in the flowers created by the very talented Derek Armstrong of Bloomsberry....

Lindsey seeing Grant for the first time ...See the look of love!!

The happy couple coming down the aisle so pleased to see all their guests who witnessed them be getting wed!

Those flowers in the church were amazing!! They even matched the decor!

Romantic shots there were so many to choose from....Lindsey's beautiful dress was from Susan at Country Dreams.

This picture I just love because of the mad moment that it was taken in I had an old guy going mental at me as I admit I ever so slightly cut in front of him to get behind the fabulous vintage wedding car (Highams) so Jesse my assistant could get this shot ha ha was well worth it though! Thanks to the Eddie Stobart truck for getting in there!

Back at the Greenhills I reverted back to a very classical pose but I think it is good to have a bit of classical going on every now and then!! The beautiful blue bridesmaids dresses were by DESSY.

After all the family photographs were taken the chocolate fountain was enjoyed by all and so were the flowers which looked stunning!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this amazing wedding and photographing this fantastic couple.

THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING ME! I hope you like the photographs as much as I do!! Have a brilliant honeymoon in San Francisco, Las Vegas and Mexico. Watch their slideshow click here.
