David & Iona…Tipi tent wedding!

I absolutely love it when a bride and groom want to do something a little different to the normal traditional wedding. I was soooo excited when Iona and David booked me to photograph their wedding, as this was a wedding that any photographer would have loved to be a part of!

Iona and David chose the beautiful Lakes as the backdrop of their special day. I started out at the Scafell Hotel in Borrowdale to capture the girls getting ready. The details on this wedding were amazing! Starting with Iona’s shoes and flowers by Christina at FLOWERTIME in Carlisle who came up with stunning bouquets in the most vivid colours. Christina is a very talented young florist and produces some amazing work. Iona had selected a stunning Ian Stuart gown… Loved it!

Iona was ready to get married. Iona you looked stunning!

The bridesmaids wore lime green dresses and the vibrant pink flowers in their hair looked fab!

Meet Noah….. the couple’s little boy who was very photogenic but you had to catch him first!

David the groom…... David looked amazing his suit was from Edwards Menswear in Penrith.

So cute!

Iona and her father arriving at Lodore Falls in a vintage VW Camper van!

Love this one of Iona and Noah together.

Exchanging vows at the Lodore Falls Hotel.

After the ceremony at Lodore all the guests boarded a boat and went for a cruise around Derwent Water. The scenery was spectacular as the guests sipped on Pimms and ate canapés.

Then it was back to Borrowdale for a reception not to forget… a tipi tent with an open fire and wooden beams. Iona had worked so hard to get everything just so and the planning paid off everyone was amazed by how gorgeous it was inside!

Inside was a sweet table that looked too good to eat!

Sky lanterns were set off into the night sky against the silhouette of the Borrowdale mountains a magical end to another fabulous wedding!

Thank you Iona and David for entrusting me with providing you photographic memories of your special day. It was a wedding I will never forget a real highlight of 2010!
Have a fab time in the Dominican Republic!

Simon & Aimee.. Classy Langley Castle Wedding...

It was a perfect day last Saturday when Simon and Aimee married at Langley Castle. As Aimee and her bridesmaids were getting ready the room was buzzing with people coming and going and excitement was definitely in the air.

This was it ! Aimee had planned her wedding for months she had a huge file that she kept all wedding information in and as a school teacher Aimee seems one organised lady! I started out in the beautiful four poster suite photographing Aimee and the details...

The morning light streaming in from the window was amazing and lit up my stunning subject perfectly. That was all I needed to get this shot....

Aimee looked stunning as she sat in the beautiful arched window arranging the bridesmaids...

Chelsea award wining florist John Dalton had done an amazing job on all the flowers at the castle....

Meanwhile Simon was getting ready in another part of the castle with his ushers and best man. I took an instant liking to Simon he is a guy with a great sense of humour and Aimee and Simon laughed all day... Well apart from this moment which was rather a serious part of the ceremony!

Leaving the castle as man and wife. When we met for the pre wedding consultation Simon told me he didn't like getting his photographs taken although on the day I would never have guessed that this was so as he seemed very relaxed as he sipped on his Corona.

The guests sipped pink champagne and took in the beautiful surroundings of Langley Castle...

After another religious blessing up in the tower chapel of the castle, we spent a little time getting some romantic photographs in and around the castle. It is often difficult to come up with names for the tables, but what a great idea this was.
Aimee is from the North East and Simon from Carlisle so they chose places that meant something to them, where they had spent time with each other. Getting engaged at the Angel of the North was a favourite place which became the name of the top table. It seemed right that they chose Langley Castle a half way point for their wedding between their home towns.

Busy Busy but still finding time to draw inspiration...

Life in the studio is pretty hectic at the moment with lots of weddings to edit and albums to be made up I am working very long days to keep on top of my workload. Making up wedding albums is high on my list of priorities this week they seem to all be coming in at once! Here is an album that I have just completed for a young professional couple who were married in Gretna with their two young daughters a couple of months ago. This was a great wedding to photograph as it was just me and them and after a while the children really started to relax and we had fun!

A highlight at the weekend was seeing my work published in a local up and coming magazine Carlisle Living and also it was great to read about Joanne and David Pullen in Cumbrian weddings whose wedding I photographed a few months ago.

Photography isn't just a job for me it is something that I absolutely love. I am passionate about wedding photography and love to read about the latest trends and learn new techniques, new poses, different lighting techniques etc.
I do this by gaining inspiration from fashion magazines and I have a few favourite photographers from various countries that I admire and so thanks to the worldwide web I can follow what they do to when I get the time!

Hopefully I can put into practice the inspiration that I am drawing over the next few months as I look forward to lots of exciting and unusual weddings that I am booked to photograph....
