2011 Highlights

What a great year this has been for photography. I have been to some fantastic locations met some amazing people and every wedding I attend is a great experience for me. I have invested in some great new camera gear and cannot wait for the 2012 wedding season!
Here are a few highlights from 2011...

John & Marie...Love at the Roundthorn, Penrith

John and Marie went to school together then several years in 2007 they met again and the rest is history! They chose their hometown of Penrith to hold their wedding where 100 family and friends joined them to celebrate.

I started out at Marie's parent's house for photographs of Marie getting ready and captured some of the details. Marie's dress was stunning bought from Marrime in Kendal. Marie's flowers were done by the bride's friend - Valerie Dugdale.

Maria's flowers were a selection of beautiful tea roses and eucalyptus.

Over at St Andrew's Church John was awaiting Marie's arrival. All the men were very smart all dressed in suits from Edwards Menswear of Penrith.

Marie arriving in style with a beautiful vintage car from Parkers of Kendal.

What a proud father!!

The happy couple after the ceremony....

I wanted to use the quaint streets around the church for something a little different and was happy with the results....

On the way to the reception at The Roundthorn

The couple and their baby daughter Millie, she was such a cutie!

In the grounds of the Roundthorn....

Jay & Claire ....small family wedding at Smiths, Gretna

Wow I have had a busy summer! So lots of blog entries to come showing a selection of some of the weddings I have been photographing. Let's start with a lovely little wedding in June that I photographed...

Jay and Claire and a small party of their closest family and friends joined them for a lovely summer wedding at Smiths Hotel in Gretna Green. I started out photographing Claire and her little girl Ava. Claire's flowers were created by Gardenalia.

Meanwhile Jay and son Jack were getting ready to head off to the ceremony at Anvil Hall....

During the ceremony.....

Jay and Claire were keen to get some family shots with their two children who were great to photograph!

Silver Lady wedding cars took them on a little romantic drive where we stopped off for some romantic images.

Then it was back to Smiths where Jay and Claire's family enjoyed a relaxed meal prepared by the award winning chefs at Smiths in one of the hotel's new private dining areas! Thanks for letting me share your day it was a pleasure to meet you all!

Gareth and Natalie's fantastic wedding at Langley Castle..

Gareth and Natalie live and work in Newcastle. They decided to return to Cumbria for their big day with 120 of their family and friends invited to the wedding. Rain did fall on the morning of the wedding but it didn’t matter as everyone enjoyed a fantastic day and the sun eventually made an appearance as the day went on.

Natalie looked very beautiful. Her Tiffany jewellery and Augusta Jones dress looked amazing as did her hand tie bouquet from Gardenalia.

Prior to the wedding I meet with all my clients and I knew that Natalie had a great eye for detail. All of these details shots will look great in the couple’s bespoke storybook album.

Natalie and her father leaving the family home in Carlisle …

The ceremony was held in Wetheral Church …

We took lots of different family combinations with Gareth and Natalie in the grounds of the church …

Then it was off to the viaduct in Wetheral for the all important romantic images

Langley Castle was the venue for the reception.

The flowers in the reception looked stunning all decorated by Carlisle based firm Gardenalia. Natalie’s grandmother made the cake. Natalie and Gareth chose green and creams for a simplistic fresh theme that looked very classy!

Another amazing wedding thanks for letting me photograph it for you!

Jonathan & Katie’s fabulous Marquee wedding starts the wedding season …

It was a beautiful start to the summer season for me to photograph Katie and Jonathan’s wedding in the pretty village of Ainstable in the Eden Valley.

I started out taking photographs at their home in Carlisle. Katie’s one off designer gown by Jacquie Kidd looked stunning alongside her fab shoes by Harriet Wilde and flowers by local floral stylist Brenda from Gardenalia.

Katie with her mum and bridesmaids

Jonny had been to have a drink at his local the Heather Glen and we just managed to capture this shot of him and his brothers and some of the bridal party walking to the church…

The flowergirls and pageboy arriving at the church… very cute!

Jonny and his groomsmen looked very dapper in suits from Edwards Menswear in Penrith.

Having done some modelling before on a photo shoot with me Jonny was relaxed and as ever good fun in front of the camera.

Katie looked so stylish as she arrived in style in a car supplied from Mercedes Benz, Carlisle while her bridesmaids looked amazing outside the church.

During the Ceremony

Then it was back to Low House Armathwaite for some romantic shots. We stopped off at the Viaduct on the approach to Low House.

The stunning Bakerwood Marquee looked amazing as you drove down the tree lined approach to Low House at Armathwaite in the beautiful Eden Valley.

The couple opted for a sweet table so that guests could help themselves to childhood treats. The beautiful cake was made by Jonny’s mum.

Thanks for letting me capture your amazing wedding it was great fun!

Intimate family wedding at Comlongon Castle…

I love photographing weddings at Comlongon Castle. Especially when I meet such fantastic fun people like Steve and Jeanette.

With only a total of 14 close family and friends it was a great wedding to photograph.

I started out in the newly built contemporary lodge set in the grounds of the castle. It was easy photographing Jeanette and her daughters who were so relaxed and friendly. Just loved the purple hair sorry if I kept going on about how cool it looked!!

During the ceremony…

The fabulous grounds of the castle

Thanks for letting me be a part of your special day. Bet you had a great honeymoon in Vegas!
