Iohna and Craig ...FUN, FUN, FUN!!

From the first moment Iohna Loots and Craig Mercer booked me to photograph their wedding I was excited. This was a couple who I knew were going to be amazing to work with and I was not wrong!!

I was so happy when I awoke on Saturday to see that the sun was shining - I had it made! Iohna and Craig opted for a civil ceremony just them, and myself and Jesse my assistant were witnesses. With no guests to worry about we shot at two amazing locations close to Gretna Green and we had a fabulous time.
Iohna who is a top class ballet dancer (she performed for Michelle Obama the other week!) with the London Royal Ballet was just an amazing person to photograph, she and her husband laughed all day long and their love for each other has shone through in their photographs. The birds sang, the sun shined and after the shoot Iohna and Craig headed off to the Lake District for a romantic weekend together. Have a great time on your honeymoon in the Maldives and I hope Iohna's parents in Vancouver love the photographs! There are so many beautiful images from this wedding that I found it hard to choose, so to see more of Craig and Iohna see the slideshows page of my website available from 1 MAY.

We started the photo shoot at Smiths in Gretna Green..

Then on to a local ruin for some dramatic photographs..

To end the day we went to a field of rapeseed which was amazing!

NEW MADDISON ALBUM PAGES

Improvements have been made to the Maddison Weekday collection album with many new designed pages now available. Here are a few pages that I have been working on for Lyndsey and Grant who were married at Lodore Falls. A brand new album is coming out in the next week for the Maddison collection so that clients who opt for this collection have a choice of two albums both very different in design.

Album pages are available in black or white..

Family Portraits & Kids

People often contact me to ask if I photograph children and families. The answer is YES. Although I specialise in wedding photography I spent the first part of my photographic career as a school photographer and have photographed thousands of kids over the years. I love photographing children doing something that they love doing. I get sick of seeing white backgrounds because this has been done so often, so I tell my clients to set up something that they do as a family for the portrait. This could be going to the park, posing with a family pet, going to the beach, whatever you like to do!
Memories of childhood are preserved in photographs and so I try to photograph my own children every week although they don't always thank me for it. When you look back it is amazing how they change from month to month. Because every post is better with a picture here is a few recent family pictures that I have shot..

This is my niece Helayna, soo cute...

These are my two daughters Anya and Renee, who judging by this photograph get sick of waiting for me to get the shot..

NEW CUSTOMISED PREVIEW BOOKS

I was very excited to receive the new style preview book that I am offering my clients which arrived in the post today.
This book is fantastic as it gives my clients a copy of all the images that were taken on the day in a beautiful coffee table book that is designed exclusively to each couple. This preview book is made for those couples who have booked the Contemporary, Continental and Signature storybook albums and there is a small charge if you want to keep it to go alongside your main album. Contact me for more details.

Alex & Karen 10 April 2009

On Friday we had the pleasure of photographing Alex and Karen at their wedding at the fabulous Smiths Hotel. The weather was a little overcast but we managed to capture the atmosphere of their perfect day and still got outside for photographs.
Karen didn't appear to be nervous in the slightest and her relaxed approach has made for some beautiful photographs. Alex and his best man Ahmed were absolute gentlemen... by the way we loved the speeches they were very entertaining and everyone was laughing ALOT!
It was great to see many familiar faces of the guests many from Carlisle who I have photographed at other local weddings. Look out for your slideshow which will be live on Friday. Thanks for letting us document your special day!

The shoes and details were fabulous...

Karen looked amazing!

NEW FABULOUS STORYBOOK ALBUMS

We are currently working on a new line of storybook albums. These are individually designed by myself and a brilliant graphic designer Jan who is now working alongside me in creating bespoke albums.
Once these are back and printed I will post them on my blog to show my clients how they look but for now I thought I would show a few of the pages that are finished. This is the wedding of Lee and Emma Brumpton which I photographed at the Inn on the Lake, a perfect venue and probably the largest number of ushers that I have photographed infact a rugby team! Lee and many of his friends play Rugby for Carlisle. I was a little worried that these line outs would get me into trouble before the wedding even got started but there were no grass stains on the suits!

Robert and Leeanne

What a great time we had photographing this wedding!

An intimate wedding was the best way to describe Robert and Leeanne's day with nine of their closest friends and their baby son enjoying a Gretna Green wedding. Leeanne was fantastic she laughed all day!

After the ceremony they had a fantastic reception at Smiths and danced the night away! Here are a few of my favourite images from the day and to see more view their slideshow!

Thanks guys for letting us be a part of your special day along with your friends who were great fun and really added to the happy atmosphere of this special day.

New Equipment

I am always investing in new equipment so that I can always offer my clients a fantastic product from start to finish.
The latest edition to my gear are two new Fuji S5 Pro cameras which are fantastic for photographing true skin tones. I am a big fan of Nikon and this is what I use as my main camera body. But for wow colours and amazing skin tones these new cameras are working a treat!
My assistant Jesse and I aim to shoot your wedding using our professional know how and of course our easy going fun approach helps put clients at their ease! Combined with the best equipment we aim to capture some great images this year. Each wedding is unique and we are very excited about all of the weddings that we are booked to photograph !!
